Attendance & Cancellation Policies

Student Absences

As with any tuition (swim classes , dance, etc), each FVS student is reserving the teacher’s time for the duration of the term. When a student is absent, with or without notice, the teacher is paid for the lesson time.

There are no refunds for discontinued lessons or classes. Commitment to attending the term is expected of each student.

Make-ups

Make-ups are given at the teacher’s discretion and only under the following conditions: when at least 7 days notice is given and if there is space available within the same week of the cancelled lesson.

If a student does not give sufficient notice the student will miss a lesson without consideration of a make-up. Lessons are not made up at a later date. There are no make-ups for missed make-ups.

Discontinuing lessons

One weeks’ notice is required for students who will not be returning at the end of each trimester. Without such notice FVS assumes that lesson time slot is still reserved and the applicable fees will fees be automatically charged for the upcoming trimester.

Students who discontinue lessons and wish to return at a later date may be placed on a waiting list if there is no space. However, preference with regards to new openings is given to returning students over new students.

FVS reserves the right to discontinue lessons of any student who's account is in arrears, is consistently late or absent or is not practicing or applying themselves to the lessons.

Teacher Absences

When the teacher is absent, with or without notice, the student’s lessons will be made up by one of the following: adding time to a few lessons, scheduling two lessons in one week or by offering a Fiddleheads Violin Shop credit.

Billing Policy

Each trimester’s fees are due at commencement of lessons (by the 2nd week of classes at the latest). If full payment is not possible, 50% of lessons fees may be paid at registration, the balance to be paid with a post-dated cheque dated within 30 days of the first payment. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Interest at 2% monthly will be applied to overdue accounts after the first 30 days. There is a $20 NSF cheque service charge. All fees are subject to change with one semester notice (fees have changed as of Winter/Spring 2008).

Fees

Private lessons:

Below are the lessons rates per trimester. *Note there is a $5 fee for sheet music and supplies each trimester. This fee is included in the Trimester fees.

Music Lessons are not subject to GST.

Fiddleheads Ensemble:

The Fiddleheads Violin Ensemble is held only at Christmastime and as interest allows. Cost for the class is will depend on the number of rehearsals. Minimum of 6 students for class to run. Please let Rhiannon know ASAP if you would like to participate.

Fees are due:

Fees are due by the second lesson without exception.
